About the Nhan Ho Project (2010–2024)
The Nhan Ho Project was a contemporary dance company dedicated to building community through the arts. Founded in San Jose and later expanding to Arizona and Sacramento, the company spent 14 years creating inclusive, collaborative spaces for dancers and artists across multiple cities.

Our mission was to promote diversity, inclusivity, and access to dance through sustainable partnerships with local businesses and community organizations.

Based in Sacramento in its final years, the Nhan Ho Project offered a Professional Contemporary Dance Company and the Movement Choir—welcoming dancers of all levels, backgrounds, and experiences. We provided opportunities for college dance majors, working professionals, and individuals returning to performance to come together through shared creativity.

Unlike many traditional companies, we sought out underrepresented voices and built bridges between communities through interdisciplinary work, site-specific performances, and accessible programming.

From Arizona to Northern California, we believed in the power of dance to unite, inspire, and transform.

NHAN HO PROJECT DANCE COMPANY

Est. 2010

Nhan Ho Project Dance Company (NHPDance) is a cutting-edge contemporary-modern dance company that offers unique, innovative, and eclectic dance pieces that challenge and redefine the language of contemporary dance. NHPDance is proud to be fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, a non-profit program that supports artists and arts organizations in raising funds for charitable causes.

As the Artistic Director and Choreographer of NHPDance, Nhan Ho aims to provide a platform for established and emerging artists from diverse backgrounds to collaborate and share the same stage. Together, these artists will explore physical boundaries, push creative limits, and defy gravity with their performances. Nhan Ho's vision is to create works that inspire, engage, and challenge audiences, while also providing opportunities for artists to grow and develop their craft.

NHAN HO PROJECT'S MOVEMENT CHOIR

The Movement Choir has had a significant impact on the Sacramento community at multiple levels. By bringing together dancers from diverse backgrounds, neighborhoods, and dance schools, it has strengthened the Sacramento arts community by promoting collaboration and creativity. Additionally, the Movement Choir serves as a bridge to other art forms beyond the dance world, connecting visual artists and musicians with performance artists.

The Movement Choir's collaborative events, such as the October 12, 2018 performance, provide a meaningful and entertaining way to showcase community artists and their original work to a wider audience. At this event, the Nhan Ho Project's Movement Choir collaborated with artists from other disciplines, including DJ Lady Char, Intempus Music, Nick Micheels, MG (Myles Graves), Rickie Jiménez, Talitha De Mesa, Shaun Burner, Merrick From Guam, Keyla Christian Photography, and many more. The performance took place at Arcade Underground (1008 2nd Street, Sacramento, CA 95814) in Old Sac.

NHAN HO PROJECT'S  IMAGES OF DANCE

Images of Dance was created to provide a platform for youth and adult dance companies and groups to showcase their talents and highlight the innovative variety of dance that exists in the Sacramento region today. This event is a unique opportunity for dance companies, studios, choreographers, performing groups, and cultural organizations to participate and strengthen our local dance community.
